The outcome
A checked drill setup with exact player numbers, a sensible training grid and optional movement steps. This guide works as a manual board workflow; account-entitled AI Import can help create the draft.
What you need
- A learning objective, player numbers, age/level and session time.
- Grid dimensions and units, equipment and goal requirements.
- The tactics board. An approved AI assistant is optional for the prompt stage.
1. Make the brief specific
U12 intermediate. 5v5 + 1 neutral. 30 × 40 yards. No goals. Objective: possession and supporting angles. 15 minutes. Team A blue, team B red, neutral yellow.
This is a fictional example, not a recommendation for every U12 team. Adjust the space and demands to your players.
2. Generate a proposal, not a final answer
Use the downloaded prompt pack. Require exact counts, equipment, organization, coaching points and clearly marked assumptions. If you use board AI Import, inspect the draft before accepting it. Otherwise, place the proposed objects manually.
3. Check the diagram
- Eleven players: five on each team and one neutral in a third color.
- An unlined 30 × 40-yard grid—not a miniature full pitch.
- No goals; clear boundaries, spacing and dimension labels.
- Only the requested equipment and balls.
4. Add movement with a purpose
Create a second step showing one useful support movement and a pass. Keep the same player identities and distinguish running, passing and dribbling. Play it back slowly and check that the ball moves between the intended players.
5. Review, save and explain
Confirm the drill is suitable for your players. Save or export using the access available to your account, then explain the objective and restart conditions. Never confuse a polished diagram with a coach-approved activity.
