# Adapt a drill when player numbers change

Audience: coaches. Type: planning worksheet and optional prompt.
This is a manual, coach-reviewed workflow, not a claim of an available hosted adaptation product.

## Planning sheet

## Optional AI prompt
Propose two adaptations of this drill for the actual attendance and supplied constraints.
Preserve the stated learning objective. Show exact player-count arithmetic, roles,
neutral rules, equipment, starting space and trade-offs for each option.
Do not assume a missing player can fill a role. Count goalkeepers if present.
Do not scale grid dimensions mechanically by player-count ratio.
Clearly label all suggested dimensions as starting points for coach review.
Describe board edits and movement steps that must be checked after changing roles.
Ask about essential missing constraints; do not invent player abilities or health information.
The coach chooses and evaluates the activity. Do not claim safety or suitability is verified.

## Fictional example
Original: 5v5 + 1 neutral = 11. Possession/supporting angles; no goals; 30 x 40 yards.
9 present: possible 4v4 + 1 neutral = 9.
10 present: possible 5v5 without a neutral = 10.
11 present: original format = 11.
Blue/red teams; yellow neutral. Coach determines whether each option preserves the objective.
A 25 x 30-yard trial grid for nine players is an example, not a universal recommendation.

## Board and field review
- Correct player total in every step.
- Third color for neutrals.
- Unlined grid and explicit dimensions when not using a full pitch.
- Only needed equipment and goals.
- Passes/runs/dribbles refer to present players.
- Explain revised rules and restarts.
- Observe pressure, spacing and engagement; adapt with appropriate coach judgment and breaks.

Privacy: use counts and role labels, not child names or medical information.
Keep sensitive player needs in the organization's approved process.
